UP Self-Service Pricing

Telestream sets prices for the UP according to the tier-of-service plan as described in the following table:

Self-Service Pricing Tiers

1: Self-Service/Pay-Go customers will choose a base tier (Starter, Basic, or Pro) and will pay on a monthly or annual occurrence. Annual subscriptions will get a 2-month discount. This subscription grants access to the Unified Platform and the items listed under each subscription. Each of the items listed in a tier are organization wide. 2: Spaces are like storage buckets. One organization can have many spaces. For example, an organization can have separate spaces for Sports, News, and Seasonal Programming. Each of the spaces can have all the same users or can have unique users. Users can view only the content of spaces assigned to them. You can’t add additional spaces to a base subscription. If your organization needs more spaces, the organization must switch to a higher tier. There is a system maximum of 10 spaces for the Pro tier. 3: For the Starter tier, there is a max of 10 users. We will not be able to add-on additional users. If an organization needs additional users added, they will need to upgrade their subscription base tier to either Basic or Pro which will allow them unlimited users. 4: Billing Analytics allows an organization to see their usage data broken out by application or space. This will only be available for higher tiers (Basic and Pro). This is not available as an add-on. 5: Single Sign On validation is for third-party tools like Okta or others to be used. This is available only to the Pro tier. 6: Each tier is given a certain number of UP.Review sessions. When the UP.Review sessions are all being utilized, a user with admin permissions can buy additional UP.Review sessions. 7: Egress is slightly different than branded storage. Each tier has an egress amount included. If an organization exceeds their egress, they will be charged on the monthly invoice for their overages. Egress resets monthly. So for example if you have the Basic tier and have a monthly egress allotment of 100 GB, and you use 70GB in a month, on the start of the next billing cycle, you will reset back to the 100 GB. Egress is not associated with the subscription term, so if your subscription term is annual, egress still resets monthly. 8: Your monthly invoice might include usage fees above the base subscription fee. Monthly usage fees are based on your organization’s usage of the Unified Platform. For example, an organization with an annual subscription could get additional monthly invoices for usage.

P1 Critical — System-wide outage or severe impact on critical functions, with significant revenue impact; immediate resolution required. P2 High — Major functionality affected, impacting revenue and operations, but the system remains usable. P3 Medium — Minor issues affecting specific features; moderate operational impact, workaround may be available. P4 Low — Non-critical issues, general questions, or requests for information; minimal impact.

UP.Workflow Pricing

UP.Workflow billing combines the costs of automated steps, high-definition video processing, and file transfers into a single, straightforward model. This system provides a more efficient way to manage media production budgets by reducing the high costs often found in standard cloud setups. Telestream prices actions for UP.Workflow components as described in the following tables.

Resolution and Framerate Multipliers

Multipliers are cost adjustments Telestream applies to the base rate of a task to account for different video resolutions. Telestream calculates multipliers by measuring the specific computing effort needed to process formats of several qualities. The Action Multiplier is the final all-in effort score where the starting difficulty of the video format has already been pre-multiplied by its resolution size to provide a single transparent value for the customer. For example, the 0.6 base weight of H.264 is doubled to reach the 1.2 rate used for HD.

Transcode Pricing

The following table shows the pricing for various types of encoding. The following examples illustrate how transcoding costs are calculated for common media delivery formats using a standard 60-minute video duration. These calculations aggregate the specific “work” required for different video formats into a single per-minute price for just the transcode step.

Example 1: Standard HD Broadcast Delivery

This example shows the cost of creating a standard broadcast file (XDCAM), which is widely used for television distribution.
  • Task: Create one 60-minute XDCAM broadcast file
  • Rate: $0.0120 per minute (based on a 1.2 multiplier)
  • Formula: 60 minutes x $0.0120
  • Total Cost: $0.72 per file

Example 2: Premium High-Definition Master

This example calculates the cost for a high-quality master file (ProRes 422), typically used for archiving or high-end editing where more detail is preserved for just the transcode step.

  • Rate: $0.0240 per minute (based on a 2.4 multiplier)

Royalty-Based Options Pricing

Royalty-based pricing accounts for the use of specialized third-party technologies and licensed tools that add high-end features like professional color grading or audience tracking to video files.

Example 1: Premium Color Enhancement (Dolby Vision)

This example calculates the cost for applying high-end Dolby Vision color grading to ensure a program meets premium HDR delivery standards.

  • Rate: $0.1200 per minute (based on a 12 multiplier)
  • Formula: 60 minutes x $0.1200

Example 2: Audience Measurement (Nielsen Watermarking)

This example shows the cost of embedding invisible tracking codes used to measure television viewership and ad performance.

Analysis Pricing

Analysis pricing covers the automated health checks that scan your video files to confirm they meet technical specifications and contain the correct metadata.

Example 1: Comprehensive Media Properties Scan

This example shows the cost of performing a deep technical scan to catalog every property and specification of a high-end video file.
  • Task: Perform a Media Properties scan on a 60-minute program
  • Rate: $0.1500 per minute (based on a 10 multiplier)
  • Formula: 60 minutes * $0.1500
  • Total Cost: $9.00 per file

Example 2: Technical Metadata Analysis

This example calculates the cost for an automated pass that verifies the internal “DNA” and data markers of the video file to ensure it is ready for distribution.

Execution Pricing

Execution pricing covers the cost for the system to process each individual automated task or decision as your media moves through the production pipeline.

Example 1: Basic UP.Workflow Steps

This example calculates the cost for a series of simple automated actions, such as basic file movements or standardized notifications.

Ingress and Egress Pricing

Ingress and Egress pricing represents the moving fees for your media, where bringing files into the cloud is free, but sending finished files out to their destination incurs a per-gigabyte data tax.

Goal: Move a 50GB high-definition master file from AWS storage to an external distribution partner.

Live Source Pricing

In order to be able to receive a Live Signal in UP, Users will have to create a Live Source and activate it. Active Live Sources are priced as per the following: Live Sources are global and can be shared between applications, Lens and Capture can use the same Live Source. In that case the cost will only be charged once.

Assumptions

A UP.Capture Worker represents a single recording channel (one SRT feed) and must remain active for the entire duration of the recording. Standard output formats include codecs like h.264 (suitable for streaming, review, or proxy use). Advanced output formats cover more complex codecs such as ProRes 422 (used for post-production and archival purposes).

Example 1: Football Match (16 cameras, HD, 150 minutes)

A typical large-scale football broadcast with 16 camera feeds in HD resolution. Each camera requires a dedicated Live Source for the full match duration of 150 minutes. Cost Breakdown

UP.Review Discounts


UP.Lens Pricing

UP.Lens tracks usage of sensors as its primary price component. UP.Lens sensors initially come in two classes, Standard and Enhanced. Sensors incur a per-minute price and are, at MVP, deployed within UP, so the price is inclusive of infrastructure. While the UP.Lens application tracks and reports only Sensor usage, fees for Live Sources (which UP.Lens requires) and Egress also apply. Telestream prices actions for UP.Lens components as described in the following tables.

Organization with four events this month, each event running six hours, with five camera contribution feeds backhauled into their cloud production environment. They want live eyes-on-glass for every camera feed multi-viewer support. They need to validate network performance, picture quality, audio quality, and the presence of ad markers in each feed.
