## What this video covers

This video shows how to open **Settings → Users**, invite a new teammate with **Invite User**, and check on their status afterward.

## Good to know

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What do I need to invite someone?">
    Just their first name, last name, and email address. Email is locked once the invite is created, so double-check it before sending.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What are the possible statuses?">
    A user is **Pending** until they accept the invite, then becomes **Active**. If they don't accept in time you'll see **Invite Expired** — from there you can use **Resend Invite** from the row menu.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does inviting a user give them access to a Space?">
    Not by itself. Inviting a user only creates their account and (optionally) assigns organization-level admin permissions. Access to a specific **Space** comes from putting them in a **Group** — that's covered in the next video.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What about UP.Ingest seats?">
    Ingest seats are assigned separately, and only to users who are already **Active**. A Platform Admin selects the user on the Users tab, checks **Ingest User**, and saves — as long as the organization has seats available (extra seats can be purchased as add-ons).
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

<Tip>
  Need to remove access instead? The same **Users** screen lets you **Edit** or **Delete** a user, including deleting several at once.
</Tip>

## Next step

Now that people are in your organization, define what they're allowed to do — continue to [Creating Roles and Permissions](/academy/roles-permissions).
